- Special Information -
If student loan is your only debt, bankruptcy is generally the correct option only if you have been out
of school for more than seven years.
If you have been out of school for more than 5 years, you can still declare bankruptcy and
then apply to court to discharge your student loan, but there is no guarantee that the court will actually
allow your loan to be discharged.

- Special Information -
For many people who do not owe much,
the correct option may be to NOT go bankrupt. Instead, you may want to consider different solutions for dealing with your debts. This may include the "Orderly Payment of Debt" program offered through the Saskatchewan Mediation Board (306-787-5387) which provides an option for consolidation of your debt.
